1. Who are you?

We’re Vrooooom Press, a small print shop and design group located in Austin, Texas. Vrooooom started out long ago as a collective of rabble-rousers, DIY enthusiasts, and general no-good-niks in Columbia, South Carolina, but has since evolved into the solo work of James Beard.

Although Vrooooom Press is a commercial entity, we still try to stay true to our collective origins by actively pursuing collaborative projects with the creative people we come across. Have a project in mind or want to work with us? Visit our artist application!

2. Why Vrooooom?

Why not? The actual name comes from an in-joke between Ashley Blewer and James Beard during some travels through Japan. It seemed like a good metaphor for the manic pace we like to keep when it comes to producing new work and concepts with labor intensive, traditional processes.

3. What payment methods do you accept?

Paypal, cash, and checks are currently our favorites. Credit and financing are available for custom work, though no projects are begun without a deposit.

4. How will my order be shipped?

Swathed in a flurry of red, white, and blue! We use USPS Priority Mail for most orders, though international orders tend to ship out via first class mail.

Prints ship in a cardboard tube, rolled, along with some Vrooooom Press goodies!

Please allow 1-2 weeks for your order to be prepared and shipped properly.

5. My print arrived damaged. Can I get a refund?

Of course! We only ask that you write us as soon as possible to explain what happened to your print. If the print is damaged beyond repair, we will send you a replacement. If you would like to exchange your print for another piece, we ask that you pay additional postage and return your order to us.

6. What’s the artist application all about?

We try to stay true to our collective roots by collaborating with artists that match our aesthetic outlook. Approved artists have an opportunity to have their work printed at cost or for free in exchange for a portion of the edition.

Artists involved in this opportunity are required to contribute a set number of projects per year in order to remain affiliated with Vrooooom Press. You can apply here!

7. Do you have an internship program?

Unfortunately, no, but you can still shoot us an e-mail and see if we need help on any projects.

That said, we do love to offer advice on printing! Shoot us your questions and concerns and we’d be happy to assist…

8. How can I get a printing/design quote?

For screenprinting work, please fill out an inquiry on the following page.

Letterpress inquiries may be directed here.

Need a design yesterday? We’ve got a form for you!

In order to write an accurate quote, we need accurate info! Don’t forget to include a picture of what you have in mind.

9. What’s the turnaround on custom work?

Letterpress work requiring photopolymer plates have a 2 week turnaround. This includes all digital designs and line art. Work involving carved blocks require additional work, so check with us to see if we can get it to you on time.

Screenprints can be printed within a 2 day window if the design work checks out. But to be safe, please allow a week after the approval of your project for it to be properly finished.

Design projects vary on a case by case basis. Don’t be shy; contact us with any concerns!

10. Can I book you for a workshop, demo, or interview?

Yes! We currently do not have a regularly scheduled workshop, but Vrooooom Press is available to visit your studio to offer advice and criticism on your process. Interviews? Hell yes!
