Listen Up!

This simple 2 color card was printed by Ashley Blewer at the University of South Carolina letterpress lab for Vrooooom Press. It features a snazzy, old style radio cut and some large hand-set type in green. We actually cheated a bit by buying the cards pre-folded, which can be trouble for letterpress printing, but it turned out fine. You have to think three dimensionally when working with letterpress, which is ultimately a relief process; raised type or plates with a coating of ink are pushed into the printed surface to produce a print. Because of this, it’s usually a lot easier to print on unconverted surfaces so that you don’t accidentally stamp into the front, inside, and back of the card all at once!
