Raccoon Receptionist

I began doing letterpress work when I lived in Columbia, South Carolina. The University of South Carolina had a fully functioning, though relatively unknown, letterpress studio that I found out about by chance. A few e-mails and an orientation session later, and I had access to a studio space!

Most of this early work involves using antique “cuts”, or illustrative carved blocks, to print up simple stationary with a slightly surreal bend. Raccoon Receptionist is one of those pieces.

Letterpress work can be much more time consuming than screenprinting, but I think most people who have been bitten by the letterpress bug will tell you that it’s time well spent. It’s difficult to beat the medium for visibility and fine detail, which makes it appropriate for smaller works on paper and fine ephemera.

These cards are approximately 4″ x 6″ and blank on the inside, printed on 100# cover weight paper. Each set includes 5 cards with matching kraft envelopes.
